Cancellation

Cancellation and Change Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

This policy applies to bookings made directly with Villa Paradise Tahiti, where it was provided and accepted before the booking was confirmed.

It supplements the general booking conditions, subject to the applicable mandatory legal provisions.

For bookings made through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Abritel or another platform, the cancellation terms accepted on that platform apply.

The applicable version is the one accepted at booking. A new version does not retroactively change an existing booking.

1. Cancellation by the guest

Cancellation fees are calculated on the total price of the confirmed accommodation, after discounts, regardless of the amount already paid.

This base is the price of the nights. Tourist taxes, cleaning fees, security deposits and optional services are handled separately, as set out below.

Time before arrivalCancellation fee
More than 60 daysNo fee; full refund of the amounts paid for the accommodation
30 to 60 days inclusive50% of the total accommodation price
Less than 30 days100% of the total accommodation price

The amount refunded equals the sums already paid for the accommodation, minus the cancellation fee, and cannot be less than zero. Where the fee exceeds the sums paid, the balance still owed is calculated separately. Other items are handled under section 3.

If the sums paid are lower than the cancellation fee, the difference remains due, subject to the applicable legal provisions. No additional charge is made without a valid authorization or another basis allowing it.

These fees are a fixed indemnity to compensate for holding the dates and the consequences of the cancellation. They are not combined with a second indemnity for the same loss. Mandatory rules and the court's power of review remain applicable, in particular where an indemnity is manifestly excessive.

Example: for accommodation priced at USD 5,000 and cancelled 45 days before arrival, the cancellation fee is USD 2,500. If a deposit of USD 1,500 was paid, a balance of USD 1,000 remains due.

The fees in this section concern a cancellation by the guest. They do not apply automatically when Villa Paradise Tahiti cannot provide the service or when a mandatory rule requires another outcome.

2. How time is counted and when a request is received

Time periods are the time remaining between receipt of the written request and the arrival time shown in the confirmation, counted in 24-hour periods.

The scale is: more than 60 days, 0%; 30 to 60 days inclusive, 50%; less than 30 days, 100% of the total price of the nights after discounts. So exactly 60 days or exactly 30 days falls within the 50% tier.

The reference time is Tahiti local time, UTC−10. The 30-day and 60-day thresholds are included in the middle tier.

The date used is the date the request is received in our inbox or through another accepted written channel. It does not depend on when we reply.

The request must identify the booking and clearly express the wish to cancel. A request for information or for a quote to change the booking is not a cancellation.

If we have doubts about the sender's identity, we may ask for proportionate verification. You do not have to use the original email address if the person's identity and authority are established otherwise.

3. Taxes, cleaning, deposit and optional services

If the booking is cancelled before any access to the accommodation:

  • tourist taxes not yet payable are refunded;
  • end-of-stay cleaning fees are refunded when the cleaning has not been carried out;
  • the security deposit is returned, or its pre-authorization released, when no amount is legally justified on that account.

Excursions, meals, paid transfers and other optional services are subject to the specific terms provided and accepted before they are ordered.

An amount paid to an outside provider cannot be withheld merely because it has already been paid: its non-refundable nature must result from the applicable terms, have been brought to the guest's attention and be legally justified.

No service is charged cancellation fees twice.

4. No-show, late arrival and early departure

In the event of a no-show without prior cancellation, the cancellation fee is 100% of the accommodation price, subject to applicable mandatory rights.

A late arrival or an early departure decided by the guest does not automatically entitle them to a refund of nights booked but not used.

This rule does not limit the guest's rights when the shortened stay results from a failure by Villa Paradise Tahiti or another situation that legally entitles them to a refund.

Guests must tell us about any delay as soon as possible. If we hear nothing, we try to contact the guest before concluding that they have given up the stay.

5. Date changes

A request to change dates received at least 30 days before the original arrival date may be accepted without an administrative fee, provided that:

  • the villa is available;
  • the replacement stay meets the applicable minimum stay;
  • the new dates fall within 12 months of the originally planned arrival;
  • we confirm it in writing.

The new price is that of the replacement dates and services. The written proposal states the original price, the new price, how the sums already paid are allocated and any additional payment or refund. It only applies once the guest agrees. A price difference in the guest's favor is not automatically forfeited.

Any tax changes and optional services are calculated separately.

Rescheduling does not restore a free-cancellation option that has already expired. If the booking is later cancelled, the fee is the higher of:

  • the fee calculated on the original accommodation price, at the tier applicable when the change request was received;
  • the fee calculated on the changed accommodation price, at the tier applicable when its cancellation was received.

These amounts are not added together. The minimum amount and the calculation bases are set out in the rescheduling agreement and accepted before it is confirmed. The total charged cannot exceed the higher of the two accommodation prices. The guest's statutory rights and the review of proportionality remain applicable.

A request received less than 30 days before arrival does not benefit from this arrangement. An accommodation may nevertheless be offered in writing.

If the change is not accepted, the original booking remains in force, unless the guest explicitly asks to cancel.

6. Fewer guests or fewer nights

The villa price covers the use of the booked configuration, not an individual price per guest.

Reducing the number of guests therefore does not change the accommodation price, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Taxes based on actual occupancy and services charged per person are adjusted where their rules allow.

Any reduction in the number of nights requires our written agreement stating the new price and any fees. Without such agreement, the original booking remains in force.

7. Exceptional events and force majeure

A natural disaster, an epidemic, a border closure or another exceptional event does not automatically have the same consequences for every booking.

The situation is assessed according to its actual effects on the performance of the contract and the criteria of the applicable law.

When the accommodation cannot be provided

If the event prevents Villa Paradise Tahiti from providing all or part of the service, we inform the guest as soon as possible. The consequences, including suspension, termination and any refunds, are determined in accordance with the applicable rules.

When the guest cannot travel

When the accommodation remains available and the impediment concerns the guest personally, the cancellation policy applies in principle, subject to applicable mandatory provisions.

An illness, a flight cancellation, a visa refusal, a work commitment, a weather forecast or a travel advisory does not, by itself, create an automatic right to free cancellation.

We may consider a request for an accommodation on presentation of relevant supporting documents. We do not ask for full medical records; sensitive information should be kept to the strict minimum.

Rescheduling or credit

Rescheduling or a credit may be offered by written agreement. It does not replace a refund legally due without the guest's consent, unless a specific legal provision applies.

The agreement states its amount, duration, transferability and the applicable pricing rules.

Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, a commercial credit:

  • covers only the sums actually paid and allocated to the services concerned;
  • can be used for a stay completed within 24 months of the originally planned arrival;
  • is subject to availability;
  • may be transferred to a relative after verification and written agreement;
  • does not guarantee the original rate.

8. Cancellation by Villa Paradise Tahiti

We may be forced to cancel when an event makes the accommodation unavailable, unsafe or legally unusable.

We inform the guest as soon as possible and refund the sums corresponding to the services we cannot provide, subject to the rules that apply to separate services.

Alternative dates or another solution may be offered. The guest is free to accept them.

No credit or rescheduling is imposed in place of a refund due. Any goodwill gesture does not amount to a waiver of the guest's rights.

A cancellation due to non-payment or a breach by the guest is governed by the general booking conditions and the applicable procedures.

9. How refunds are made

We make the refunds due without undue delay and, unless a shorter legal period applies, within 14 calendar days of receiving a sufficiently identifiable cancellation.

Refunds are made in the currency of the original transaction and, where possible, by the same payment method.

If that method can no longer be used, a secure alternative is agreed with the guest after verifying their identity. We do not refund to the account of an unverified third party.

The time it takes to appear on your statement then depends on your bank or payment provider.

We do not automatically deduct our payment processing fees from a refund announced as full.

Exchange fees or commissions charged separately to the guest by their own bank are not sums collected by Villa Paradise Tahiti. Whether they are returned depends on that bank, without prejudice to the guest's statutory rights.

10. Travel insurance

We recommend taking out, as soon as you book, insurance suited to your country of residence, your trip and the activities you plan.

Check in particular the cover for cancellation, trip interruption, medical care, evacuation and repatriation.

Exclusions, limits, deductibles and purchase deadlines vary from policy to policy. "Cancel for any reason" cover, where available, may come with strict conditions and only reimburse part of the costs.

We do not guarantee that a guest is eligible for insurance or that an insurer will cover an event.

Insurance does not replace our contractual and legal obligations.

11. How to contact us

Send your request to: villa.paradise.tahiti@gmail.com

Please include:

  • the lead guest's name;
  • the booking reference;
  • the dates of the stay;
  • your explicit cancellation request or the changes you would like.

We acknowledge receipt as soon as possible. Our response time does not change the date of receipt used to calculate fees.

Keep a copy of your request. If you do not receive an acknowledgment, contact us through another available channel.

12. Statutory rights and disputes

This policy does not limit the refunds, remedies or mandatory protections provided by the applicable law.

It does not deprive the guest of the right to file a complaint with their bank, the payment provider or a competent authority.

A bank dispute does not, by itself, determine the parties' final contractual rights. Sums already refunded are taken into account to avoid any double refund.

In the event of disagreement, please contact us to seek an amicable solution, without prejudice to your right to refer the matter to the competent court.
